AROUND 12,000 people turned out to watch fireworks light up the sky above Worcester on Thursday night.
For the last four years, Worcester Community Trust (WCT) and Fortis Living, with LMS Events, have organised the Fireworks Fright Night event on the King George V Playing Fields at Brickfields.
Organisers say that this year's event was bigger than ever, with thousands coming out to enjoy fairground rides, food and drink stalls, a football tournament and more.
Ed Terrey, service development manager with WCT, said: "When we did our first event four years ago it was quite a small event with about 150 people attending. Over the last few years it has grown and grown and now it is huge. We think we had 12,000 people come last night, which is the most we've ever had. It was absolutely amazing and we've had some great feedback from people who said they really enjoyed themselves. A number of people had travelled from Herefordshire to be part of the night.
"The night passed completely without incident and we're going to have to start looking at how we potentially fit even more people on to the grounds next year."
Mr Terrey said it was largely thanks to the help of volunteers and LMS Events that the display was such a "great success".
