THE aisles of Sainsbury's in Worcester were filled with music last weekend.

Children from St Joseph's RC Primary School in Worcester, the 3rd Worcester Scouts and the saxophone quartet Random Numbers performed a selection of Christmas songs and carols to get shoppers in the festive mood.

The groups entertain customers at the Blackpole store with classics such as Silent Night and We Wish You A Merry Christmas to raise money for the groups themselves and for St Richard's hospice.

Gavin Jones, store manager for Sainsbury’s Blackpole, said: “The groups have been fantastic and created such a Christmassy atmosphere in store.”

Anna Humphries, scout leader, added: "We were really looking forward to taking part in the carol singing weekend at Sainsbury’s Blackpole and it’s been brilliant. We’ve had a wonderful time and now we’re really in the mood for Christmas. I’d like to thank customers for their kind donations and support.”

The store is also welcoming St Richard's Hospice this weekend to hold a door collection.
