YOUNGSTERS from Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section helped a pensioner celebrate her 81st birthday.

Rowena Matthews was up and dancing when the group took their Disney on Down cabaret to Sharman Close sheltered housing scheme in Barbourne, Worcester.

The youngsters sang 'happy birthday' to Mrs Matthews.

Their cabaret is visiting residential homes, hospices and WI groups between now and March.

The show has 13 youngsters and is an exciting mixture of Disney classics and number 1 hits.

It features a selection of well-known tunes such as Price Tag by Jessie J, When You Wish Upon a Star from Disney's Pinocchio and Don't Stop Believing by Journey, there really is something for everyone.

Directed by musical director Hattie Amos and Kit Windows-Yule, the cabaret features some numbers that are sure to leave people tapping their toes.

Hattie said: "As always, it is an honour to perform WODYS cabaret around the homes and charities.

"We can share a little bit of the magic of WODYS with people, and it is a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to get more performing experience.

"I am very proud of these 13 WODYS members, the enthusiasm, and their dedication and talent".

The cabaret group is also joining the rest of the 70 WODYS cast as they start rehearsing for their summer show - Annie - at the Swan Theatre, Worcester, from Tuesday, August 4 to Saturday, August 8.
