SEMINARS have been organised in Wychavon to help potential district and parish councillors.

Ahead of the election in May, the district council has set up the seminars to give prospective candidates advice on how to stand as a councillor and explain the election process.

As well as informing prospective candidates on what that will affect their campaign, it will also be a chance for them to meet and ask questions.

These seminars will be held at the Civic Centre in Pershore at 6.15pm on February 12 for district councils and on February 19 for parish councils.

Elaine Dicks, electoral services manager at Wychavon, said: "It’s important that anyone who wants to know more about standing has the opportunity to come along and find out more.

"We actively encourage people to think about standing and hope this event will provide a platform to aid those who want to know more.

"There will be 626 vacancies to stand for across the district and for parishes, so with all the candidates for each area this will equate to a lot of opportunities."

Anyone wanting to attend should call 01386 565437 or email elections@wychavon.gov.uk.
