VOLUNTEERS and staff from a deaf charity have been treated to a tour of Worcester’s Guildhall.
Mayor of Worcester Councillor Alan Amos showed the Deaf Direct group around the historic building, talked about its history and provided them with refreshments in the Mayor’s Parlour.
The event was organised to reward the volunteers for their hard work over the past year in support of the charity which, according to its website, provides “responsive, professional and empowering opportunities to a diverse and unique community comprised of deaf and hard of hearing people”.
Victoria Rees, who coordinates volunteering for Deaf Direct, said: “The event was organised as a treat to say thank you to the volunteers for all their efforts.
“It was a fantastic tour, which included going down into the old cells, and all of the volunteers enjoyed it immensely.
“It was a really nice and lovely occasion.”
The volunteers who attended the event included people who are profoundly deaf, those who are hard of hearing and also individuals with no hearing problems.
