A PUPIL has needed hospital treatment after she was injured by a falling radiator at her school.

The Year 12 pupil was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital following the incident at the Chase School in Malvern yesterday evening.

Headteacher Richard Jacobs told parents of the incident in a statement on the school's website "Prior to the commencement of our Year 12 parents evening one of our radiators fell from the wall, hitting one of our sixth form students and causing injuries to her leg," he said.

"At this point we have no idea what caused the radiator to fall. We have had no indication of any problems with this or any other radiator.

"As you would expect, we have conducted a safety check on all other similar types of radiator within the building and we are satisfied that they pose no risk to our students.

"We have contacted all the relevant authorities and are seeking expert help to discover the cause of this incident."

The pupil is not believed to be seriously injured.
