CON artists pretending to be from Microsoft are targeting homes in Cirencester.
Last week the Standard reported that a 72-year-old from the town had received a phone call from a man with an Indian accent who pretended to be from Microsoft and asked him to switch on his computer so he could gain access to the PC remotely to remove a virus.
However, the pensioner became suspicious and hung up.
He believes the caller was attempting to plant a tracking device on his computer to gain access to his online banking and credit card details.
Since then, two more people from Cirencester have come forward to say that they have received similar phone calls.
One of them, 61-year-old Peter Travers, said: "I could tell straight away that he wasn't legitimate, and I'd read the story about the scam, so I told him where to go and put the phone down."
