A MAJOR overhaul of the Forum car park in Cirencester begins on Monday, and the site will be closed this Sunday to prepare for the work.

There will be a limited number of spaces at the 222-bay car park while work takes place, with the project expected to take until the end of March.

During the first two weeks there will only be around 70 spaces available, with more becoming available as work progresses.

The refurbishment by Cotswold District Council (CDC) will decrease the number of spaces by around 10, although the amount of disabled bays will go up from four to 12.

The work includes the entrance being moved from off North Way to South Way and the steps replaced with a  ramp.

The layout will be changed with wider spaces and there will also be improvements to the surface of the car park, including water drainage, and new signs will be put up.

The car park entrance will be closed on Sunday but the exit will remain open until 6pm so drivers can remove their cars.
