A MENTAL health nurse from Cirencester has been shortlisted for an NHS award.

Jane Vickers, a community mental health nurse at Cirencester Memorial Centre, is in the running for a prize in Recognising Outstanding Contribution and Service Awards (ROSCAs) run by the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust.

She is one of three finalists for the Carer and Service User Involvement Award in the competition run by the Trust responsible for mental health services in the county.

Nominations came from carers and people supported by the Trust and there were more than 170 names put forward across all categories.

The finalists will all attend an awards ceremony on February 27, where they will be joined by staff who have given 20 or 30 years’ service to the Trust and who will be collecting their Long Service awards.

Trust chairman Ruth FitzJohn, one of the judges, said: “Once again the standard of nominations received was extremely high and the subject of considerable debate among the judges.

“The fact that the standard was so high is testimony to the fact that we have so many dedicated individuals and teams who work tirelessly to support our service users and carers.”
