WORK to repair the surface of a major road in Worcestershire will begin on Monday (February 23) and last for 10 days and nights.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A449 from the Mitre Oak pub in Crossway Green to the Ombersley over-bridge until Friday, March 6.
Worcestershire County Council is carrying out the project in order to patch up and improve the road’s surface and prepare it for "surface dressing" in the summer.
To protect the safety of workers on-site a convoy vehicle will lead traffic through the affected stretch.
Motorists are likely to experience delays during the roadworks and signs have been installed encouraging people to find an alternative route wherever possible.
Traffic management systems will be in place 24 hours a day. Surfacing works will start at 9.30am until 3.30pm while joint sealing and gully cleansing will start at 7.30pm until 6am, both under convoy system.
The project is being timetabled so that contractors focus on different sections of the road at different times.
Work will start on the stretch from the Stanford depot to the Esso petrol station for four days, with two days on each of the northbound and southbound carriageways, followed by four days work on the stretch from the Mitre Oak pub to Ombersley.
