THREE textile design students from Hereford College of Arts have sold their work to top designers in New York.

The impressive news comes as part of the annual joint-project with Indesign Recruitment in London.

Four graduates of the course were also successful in selling work, some for a second year.

The lucky trio were Rebecca Chambers-Perola, Sarah Fereday and Abigail Bury, who are all in their final year of the degree course.

They sold their work alongside First Class Honours graduates Rosie Michalik-Denny and Josh Bolam, Amy Pegler and Alex Guthrie.

"It’s so exciting to have sold our work,” said Rebecca, who sold her linear botanical designs to Joe Fresh.

"There are so many designs and samples that are sent over, to know that we hit the brief and that these houses liked – and bought – our designs is incredible."

Sarah said: "It’s a real reward to make money from our work before we’ve even finished the course.

"As well as our work, we put a lot of effort into researching the buyers, so we’re really pleased it’s paid off."

Course leader Elinor Bishop-Greenacre said: "We are so proud of Abigail, Rebecca and Sarah.

"It’s a very strong market out there and their success is testament to their talent and hard work, as well as the high standards we have here at HCA.

"Four of our recent alumni also sold their work, and we are delighted that they are going from strength to strength since graduating."
