PEOPLE struggling with communication problems following a stroke are being invited to make new friends and get advice at a new drop-in service in Worcester.

The Cafasia cafe will be held at the Pavilion in the Park off Tybridge Street between 10.30am and midday on Friday, April 3, and the first and third Friday of every month following.

The service run by the Stroke Association is geared especially towards the third of stroke victims who develop aphasia, which affects their ability to communicate both verbally and on paper.

Communication support coordinator for the Stroke Association in Worcestershire Joanne Hoy said: “We hope that the Cafasia will help people discover a new place of comfort where they can work on their communication skills and meet other stroke survivors.

“Meeting every month at the same venue allows survivors to discuss their own experiences in a social and friendly environment which helps build confidence with their speech and cognition.''
