AS we move towards spring and summer, Worcestershire is getting ready to blossom, with the magical sights of the county's fields filled to the brim with a range of beautiful flora soon to be an unmissable sight.

Each year the splendour of the summer months is marked with a range of celebrations, events and festivals, and this year is no different.

It will be an anniversary to remember for the Royal Horticultural Society Spring Festival on the Three Counties showground at Malvern, which celebrates its 30th year with a rejuvenated look, but the same level of expert opinion, RHS Gold medal standard floral gardens, extensive shopping opportunities, and a delicious mix of local and international food and drink, all within a sea of colour and scents.

The Worcester Show, held in Gheluvelt Park, Worcester, also celebrates a milestone this year, reaching it’s 10th year. Last year more than 6,000 people converged on the riverside park for a day full of family fun, with music, dancing, crafts, cookery demonstrations, children’s rides and delicious food the order of the day. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, August 16, with more stalls and more visitors than ever expected for the ultimate celebration of Worcester’s creativity and horticultural heritage.

The Vale of Evesham, famous for its apples, pears and plums, will play host to the UK’s only Spring Blossom Trail from mid-May to mid-June. A 45 mile AA signposted route stretching the length and breadth of the Vale will let visitors explore the area, taking in the striking and artistically formed contrasts between the pink tones of cherry and apple blossom and the white tones of pear and the Pershore plum.

In addition to the three Blossom Trail walks, there is the option to cycle the iconic route with the Blossom Trail Bikeaway, or to take in the sights of the Trail on guided coach tours that add expert insight into beauty of the Vale in the spring and summer months.

In addition to these special celebrations of Worcestershire’s rich horticultural offerings, some unique and equally breathtaking spectacles will be blossoming in every corner of the county over the coming months. Delphinium, which is used to make confetti, will be in bloom across Pershore and Evesham in the latter stages of June and early July, with the mix of colours providing an aesthetic delight.

Victoria Carman, tourism development officer at Visit Worcestershire, the official tourism body for the county, said: “Worcestershire is full of vibrant colours, making it the perfect place to enjoy spring and summer, with bluebell woods, daffodils and snowdrops in the springtime and lavender, confetti, poppy and sunflower fields in the summer months.”
