CHARACTERS from popular children’s books such as the Harry Potter series and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland came together for a special tea party as part of World Book Day on Thursday.
Youngsters in a range of colourful costumes enjoyed the event at The Hive on March 5, which modelled on the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Lewis Carroll’s classic and the Disney adaption.
Activities included a Where’s Wally hunt, story time, games and prizes as well as crafts and a fancy dress parade.
Luckily, unlike the event thrown by the Mad Hatter in the 1865 book, party-goers weren’t made to switch places at a moment’s notice.
World Book Day, now in its 18th year, is an annual event founded by the United Nations working to encourage children and young people to appreciate reading.
