WORCESTER'S St Joseph's Catholic Primary School has undergone a transformation to provide more places for future students.

MP Robin Walker was a special guest at the unveiling where a new library, classrooms, kitchen and playground were all revealed. after the Government provided funding to the school amid growing populations in Worcester.

The school has also been selected as one of 650 across Britain to take part in a flag creating competition that represents the community the school belong to, to mark the anniversary of the Simon de Montfort Parliament, crated in 1265, after it was nominated by the MP.

Robin Walker said: “I was delighted to nominate St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School for the competition in recognition of the great work that they do each year in Parliament Week.

"I’ve attended some fantastic events both before and during my term as MP, which have ranged from a Victorian debate on the introduction of primary Education, for which I got to be Mr Speaker, to probing question and answer sessions about the work of a Member of Parliament.

"Given the clear local connection, with Worcester Cathedral being the final resting place of King John, I think it would be very appropriate for our county to be so well represented in the contest and I wish them every success in the wider national competition.

"It is great news that this popular school will be expanding and I was enormously impressed by the new library, classrooms and facilities that will make it even better in the future.”
