PLANS to site 15 caravans on land behind Woodbine Cottages, Field Lane in Crossway Green, near Stourport, have been knocked back as councillors claim the land would be better used for growing King Edwards.
At a meeting of the Wychavon District Council planning committee on Thursday they decided not to support the application saying the site was not sustainable and could be better used as agricultural land.
Cllr Nigel Dowty said: "This site is not in a sustainable location as evidence by being outside a development boundary. The site is, in my opinion, countryside."
And Cllr Tony Miller added: "This is grade one agricultural land. I am not convinced this is a good use of this land to give people a good living environment.
"And a small impact, 15 on that, if we go on the percentage of what's around it, it's not small it's quite a large impact.
"I would much prefer to see some King Edwards growing on there than some caravans."
