RACE fans from across the UK and the Cotswolds descended on Cheltenham today for Gold Cup Day.
Michael Woods, 44, and David Cook, 49, who are both members of the Woodmancote Wheelers cycling club said they had enjoyed their day.
Mr Woods said: "I've backed two winners and a couple of placers. I've won about £200. It's my first time at the festival on Gold Cup day and it's brilliant."
Mr Cook said: "I've not had any winners but a couple that placed. It's my first time at the Gold Cup. It's a great day out."
Jim Sinclair, 65, from Fife in Scotland said: "This is my first time here and it's great. I've had a second place horse, a third and two losers so far [after Gold Cup].
Ian Scott 65, said: "I had the winner in the first race, Peace & Co, and won £40. I've been coming every year for 15 years. It's great. There's always a great atmosphere."
Stratford resident William Kavanagh, 65, said: "It's a fantastic day out. I've bet £200 so far [just after Gold Cup] but haven't had any winners yet."
