A TALK by an intrepid couple from Worcestershire has raised £1,180 for two charities.

Adventurers Manuel and Jill Queiroz, of Pirton, entertained an “enthusiastic” audience with talks of their epic journey driving 28,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina.

The event, which took place at St Peter’s Baptist Church on Saturday, March 7, collected money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hands, a charity which helps combat the trafficking of children in Northern Thailand.

Peter Venables, chairman of the Worcester fundraising group for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We are most grateful for the generous support we received which will benefit many people affected by cancer and help to promote the Macmillan ideal that no one should suffer cancer alone”.

Robert Wilson, trustee of Hands, added: “Hands were very grateful to be invited by Peter to co-present this event.

“Hands is a small charity and the much-needed funds raised will go straight to help the vulnerable children and their communities in Northern Thailand”.

The audience were joined by the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Alan Amos, who thanked the organisers for a “most amazing and enlightening evening”.
