A KEEN young swimmer raised £130 for Comic Relief with a sponsored swim last week.
Cherry Orchard Primary School pupil Ewan Buchanan swam 400 metres at Worcester Citizens Swimming Pool in Weir Lane, Lower Wick for the national appeal.
The eight-year-old – who is deaf and has to wear a swimming cap to stop water getting into his hearing aid – swam 20 lengths of the pool to raise the cash.
Great-grandmother Eileen Finch said Ewan had originally planned to swim 10 or 12 lengths but decided to keep going to raise even more.
“His mum said ‘Do you want to stop?’ and he said ‘No, the more I swim the more I’ll raise’,” she said.
“We’re all so proud of him.”
