HUNDREDS enjoyed a fundraising day of football in aid of a charity supporting people with suffering from multiple sclerosis at the weekend.
The annual football fun day in aid of the Worcester and District branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society was held at the King George V Playing Field in Brickfields Road on Saturday, April 21.
The event, now in its fourth year, was arranged by the family of football coach Joey Gormley, who died of the disease in January 2012 and featured clashes between youth and veteran teams as well as a fundraising auction at the Prince of Wales pub in Windermere Drive.
Worcester Community Trust volunteer Sam Sadler said the event was “really great”.
“It was even bigger than last year,” he said
“We had a few hundred more people and raised a lot of money.
“The football matches were the highlight I think.”
He added the amount of money raised was still being counted.
