AN EXCITING prize has been added to the list of goodies up for grabs at a charity auction.
Mike Foster MP is offering a tour of the Houses of Parliament, tea on the terrace and a bottle of House of Commons Scotch whisky as one of the lots in an auction to continue the fund-raising efforts of a Norton man.
Howard Peters died before he could complete a challenge to do 70 sports before his 70th birthday, to raise cash for St Richard's Hospice.
But friends and family took up the challenge, organising a charity auction at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Worcester, on Saturday, February 24.
Prizes have been flooding in, including Arsenal FC signed items and match tickets; all-inclusive memberships to local leisure centres; driving lessons; theatre tickets; a black Stratocaster guitar; a VIP day at Worcester Fire Station; an eight-week course in cookery or wine appreciation; a meal for four at the Glasshouse and a visit to racing stables in the Cotswolds.
Organiser Alan New said the latest prize donated by Mr Foster was a real coup for the event.
"Talking to Tricia Cavell at St Richard's Hospice she would be happy to co-ordinate pre-event bids from anyone interested in what's sure to be a very popular prize," he said.
"This would also enable anyone who is not able to attend on the night to still be able to participate.
"Telephone bids can be registered at St Richard's Hospice on 01905 763963 and anyone interested in donating a prize or buying tickets for the event can contact me."
Tickets are £25 per person and include a two-course meal, the charity auction and a disco.
Anyone wishing to donate can contact Mr New via e-mail on anew@cityofworcester. gov.uk or by calling either Nunnery Wood or St John's sports centres.
Tickets are on sale at the Nunnery Wood sports complex on 01905 357842, or St John's sports centre, 01905 429900 and the Perdiswell leisure centre, 01905 457189.
