PEOPLE in Warndon, Worcester, are being asked for their views on plans to build new homes in the area.

Worcester Community Housing (WCH) has announced proposals to build 19 new homes for rent and shared ownership on garage sites in Langdale Close, Leckhampton Close and Chatcombe Drive, Warndon. Plans are at an early stage and over the next few weeks tenants and residents in Warndon can give their views at a series of meetings.

WCH chief executive Stewart Mountfield said: "We have sent every resident in the immediate locality to the development sites a letter explaining our proposals together with a leaflet showing the sketch drawings of the homes, the layouts, details of car parking and information on security and access.

"We have also invited residents to meetings to talk to the experts involved."

Residents who rent garages have also been sent details of alternative parking options to replace the loss of the garages.

"I cannot stress enough how keen we are to find out what people think about our plans," Mr Mountfield said.

"Our stock of homes continues to reduce, we have lost more than 150 homes in the last three years and with the need for local affordable housing reaching new heights, we must do all we can to support Worcester City Council in helping to meet local demand."

WCH is looking to collect comments by March 31. Local meetings for residents will take place today at 6.45pm at the Langdale Close and Keswick Drive Sheltered Scheme, next Wednesday, March 14, from 1.30-3pm at Warndon Neighbourhood Office, and then Thursday, March 15, at Cranham Primary School, Tetbury Drive, from 3-4pm and the Shap Drive Community Centre from 5-7pm.
