WORCESTER'S answer to X Factor - the Text Factor - will win one talented singer £5,000, if they can brave a tongue- lashing from the judges.

The 12-week competition at Sin Bar, New Street, Worcester, is nearing the final stages. The grand finale is being held next month and the competition has already attracted some big names from the music industry, including Jordan Kensington, one of the judges. He is chief executive of the Invincible Media Group and founder of the Urban Music Awards.

The music star has also performed alongside the likes of Public Enemy, De La Soul and Ice T.

Each week, the competitors have to sing two songs from two different genres, including soul, Motown, rock and R'n'B.

The audience votes via text message for their favourite artist as the votes appear on large television screens around the bar.
