MORE than 1,000 job hunters descended on the Guildhall for the ninth Worcester News Jobs & Careers Fair.

The event was packed with people keen to find out about the latest job opportunities available across the county.

And with 16 exhibitors offering a wide variety of ideas and advice yesterday, there was plenty of inspiration for everyone.

Visitor Anita Ledger was looking for job opportunities in the health sector.

"I've been studying but now I'm ready to get a job," she said. "I've been able to get some good ideas from the fair and the exhibitors have been very informative.

"There's been a wide range of stands."

Nineteen-year-old Lori Lacroix from Droitwich was looking for weekend or part-time employment to help her pay her way through college where she is studying access to music.

"I've visited every stand and have been impressed - I've got lots of application forms to fill in now," she said.

Exhibitor Sandra Sandon, of the Association of Care Training (ACT) Herefordshire and Worcestershire said she had received lots of interest from visitors of all ages.

"We provide funding for people to train and get qualifications in the care sector," she said.

"We've had people that have been made redundant, people who are looking at changing direction completely and people looking to go to part time work talking to us."

Teresa Wynn, branch manager of Hewett Recruitment which sponsored the event, was also impressed by the amount of interest the fair had generated.

"We've seen some great people who are interested in jobs ranging from industrial to senior management," she said.

Bhavisha Panchal, event co-ordinator at the Worcester News said: "We've had some great feedback - visitors were really happy with what was on offer and were pleased to see so many companies represented."
