PHOTOGRAPHERS are expecting a last-minute flurry of parents who want to have their child's picture taken for the Worcester News Baby of the Year competition.

Today and tomorrow are the final days when mums, dads, grannies and grandpas can enter youngsters from the two counties in the contest. All week, people have been queuing at a shop (formerly Celebrations Cards) in Cathedral Plaza to have their babies and toddlers photographed so they can appear in a colour supplement in the Worcester News.

One of them was Claire Dunn, who took her nine-month-old son Liam along on the first morning. Since then, nearly 300 tots and toddlers have entered.

Organiser Sarah Bevan said more people were expected to visit between 10am and 5pm during the last few days.

Anyone who goes along will need to take a free entry coupon from the Worcester News and will have to return a week later to choose which picture is entered. Children can be entered into three categories: 0-9 months, 10-18 months and 19-35 months. Readers will then phone in to vote.

A panel of judges will make the final decision on winners and runners-up.
