WESTONS Cider at Much Marcle, near Ledbury, is staging an Alpaca Day on Saturday, March 17.

Organised by the British Alpaca Society's western region, the event is being held to raise awareness of the unusual animals, which will be on show from 10am - 4pm.

Talks on their husbandry and ownership, together with spinning demonstrations will be held, and alpacas and products made from their wool will be on sale.

Tony Bromwich, from Easthope Alpacas and joint organiser of the event, said: "They are originally from the South American Andes and I have found them to be intelligent, calming and sociable creatures. They've also got an absolutely beautiful fleece, which is one of the main reasons that people in this country farm them and the babies enthral children and adults alike."
