THE first-ever unihock tournament in Worcestershire has been hailed a huge success.
Organised by Special Olympics Worcestershire, the event gave athletes with learning disabilities the opportunity to play friendly but competitive games.
Unihock is a variation on hockey that uses plastic sticks and pucks, and more than 20 teams from across the West Midlands, including four from Worcestershire, were at the event in Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Worcester.
Secretary June Simpson said the county teams won a number of awards, which were presented by Councillor Ian Imray, mayor of Worcester Special Olympics Worcestershire provides sports training for people with learning disabilities and has 60 members and a waiting list.
