IN Worcestershire 85 out of every 1,000 people aged 65 and over receive help from their local council to continue living at home, according to a new analysis of official figures launched by the Chartered Society of Physio-therapy (CSP).
This puts the county sixth in the league of the 14 West Midlands councils helping older people remain at home. The figure is slightly lower than the national average of 88 per 1,000.
Nationally, Buckinghamshire came bottom with only 39 out of every 1,000 people 65 and over receiving help, while Haringey in London topped the list wih 156.
The CSP is applauding councils that support people aged over 65 with practical assistance to enable them to continue living at home.
