A SOUTH African man was caught talking on a mobile phone while driving his friend's car when not covered by insurance.
Marne Alston, from Johannesburg, was seen at 12.15pm on Tuesday driving a Ford Focus on Barbourne Road while using the phone.
Alston, who was staying with a friend in Worcester, pleaded guilty to the charge, and to not having insurance.
He told district judge Bruce Morgan: "It never crossed my mind to be honest to get an insurance organised.
"I was not planning to be driving. I just did it without thinking."
Alston was fined £150 and disqualified for six months for having no insurance.
He was fined £60 for using the mobile phone, and also ordered to pay £43 costs.
