BUILDING regulations on properties in Wychavon could be changed to help protect the environment by eliminating carbon emissions.
A report by the district council's policy manager, Sarah George, approved at the latest development control committee meeting, reveals changes to building regulations in the last year have produced a 40 per cent improvement.
It say: "One way to tackle climate change is through the reduction and control of energy through new and existing developments in the built environment.
"The Government has therefore suggested we first move towards low carbon through reducing emissions in buildings and infrastructure and then gradually to a zero carbon in new developments by 2016."
The report, which suggests mandatory building regulations are the best way forward, is to be discussed by the council's executive committee on Tuesday.
