YOUNG entrepreneurs of the future showed off their talents with a display of self-made goods.

Twenty-nine companies working under the Young Enterprise banner set up their stands in the Worcester's Guildhall on Saturday to sell a range of items, including jewellery, bags, pet collars and clocks. The event, for youngsters aged 15-19, saw pupils from schools in Worcester, Malvern, Droitwich and further afield vying for the attention of buyers.

They were also competing for the Young Enterprise's Spring Fair Shield, which was won by a firm called Leading The Way from Alice Ottley School, Worcester, for its customised pet collars.

The creative group of 12 girls, all aged between 16 and 17 years old, are each studying for an AS-level and all have a keen interest in textiles. Group leader Katie Steele, aged 17, said they were excited about winning the cup and the £100 prize money.

A group called Pose, from the King's School, Worcester, won £50 for marketing their idea of customised mugs.

And the prize for innovation went to a group called Sparx from Stourport High School for their car maintenance DVD and hand-held torch.
