A WORCESTER club set up to help people who suffer with leg problems has celebrated its first birthday.
The Worcester Leg Club meets at the Tolly Centre, Tolladine, every Wednesday and offers a community-based setting where people who are experiencing leg problems can call in for treatment without having to make appointments.
Wednesday marked a year since the club was officially opened.
Chairman Andy Roberts said the club had 54 members, with about 17 turning up every week.
He said: "At present membership of the club is open to patients of Elbury Moor, Haresfield House, Spring Gardens and St Martin's Gate surgeries. District nurses come from each of these surgeries to provide treatment. We are hoping the club can be opened out to more Worcester surgeries in the future."
Lead nurse Mary James said: "Thanks to the hard work of the patients and nurses, volunteers and supporters, the whole thing has been a triumph.
"In particular, the patients have really got involved, serving on committees, raising funds and helping with paperwork.
"We have had successes where people who previously were not healing are now responding to their treatment. We have also been able to pick up on other conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
"We are now hoping to extend the club so that it can take in new members from other clinics."
