A WORCESTER jewellers wants your scrap silver and gold to help raise money for Red Nose Day.

Workers at Worcester's Peplow Jewellers and Silversmiths, High Street, want their customers to rummage around their jewellery boxes and donate any expendable earrings, broken brooches or chinked chains.

Then, on Saturday, all of the unwanted and damaged donated jewellery will be weighed and converted into cash for Comic Relief.

Senior sales assistant Suzi Newsome said the store's staff will also be polishing people's prized possessions and donating money in the process. "We're also doing a cleaning service for £2 an item for anything," she said. "People can bring in gold and silver items - jewellery, candle sticks, whatever.

"And every watch battery we fit, £2 from the cost of that will go to Comic Relief as well."
