EXPLODING cola bottles were among the series of unfortunate events that took place at a Worcester school as part of World Book Day.
The day, loosely based on the popular Lemony Snicket children's books, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, had students of Christopher Whitehead Language College, Bromwich Road, taking part in a number of planned accidents in the Learning Resource Centre.
They included, as a grand finale, a chemistry experiment that involved combining mints and cola bottles to explosive effect.
Students also encountered earthquakes, plagues and literary villains.
Assistant headteacher Saira Archer said: "A Series Of Unfortunate Events is one of the many exciting ways that we inspire our students to improve their literary skills."
