My Uncle Bertie was just 20 years old, when he signed up to fight in WW1.
He joined the 1st/ 7th Worcester Regiment.
He left a new wife who was pregnant and I don't think he ever got to see his baby son, also named Bertie.
He died in France, on or near, the Somme on Tuesday 22nd of August, 1916.
