THE close friends of a woman diagnosed with breast cancer have rallied around to help her put on a fundraising night for two charities.

Natalie Smith and her partner Charlotte Frost, landlady of The Garibaldi, said they did not hesitate to let the pub, on Bromyard Road, St John's, be the venue for Saturday night's All Of Us v Cancer charity night.

Guests are asked to adhere to a black tie or all in pink dress code for the event which will help raise money for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign and Little Princess Trust, which creates real hair wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Businesses have generously donated top prizes including a BMW for the weekend, West End tickets and cafe vouchers for a live auction and Miss Smith and Miss Frost will also be donating a percentage of the bar's taking from the night.

Ten men have bravely stepped forward to have the chest or leg hair waxed and there will also be a raffle.

Miss Smith said the friend, who wished to remain anonymous, was inspirational.

"She is one of our closest friends and was diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago.

"She's been really, really brave and instead of dwelling on her diagnosis she wanted to turn it into something positive and raise awareness and money for two great charities.

"Because we have the pub we wanted to help and told her she could hold the fundraiser here - we didn't have to think twice about it.

"Anything we could do to help.

"She has managed to get local businesses to donate some great prizes and roped in male friends and family as well as coaxed a few of the locals to have their legs or chest waxed."

Saturday's event begins at 7pm.
