HEART patient Dave Hall from Malvern is calling on families to put their best foot forward this Sunday and join in the Worcester Heart Walk.

The walk is organised by the British Heart Foundation to raise money for its Mending Broken Hearts Appeal, and it was thanks to the foundations's research and the life-saving drugs he was given, Mr Hall survived heart failure. .

Now he is stepping up to the mark to help other heart patients by taking part in the Worcester Heart Walk, a three-mile circular walk starting from the county cricket ground at New Road.

“It’s a family-friendly walk alongside the River Severn and we want as many people as possible to take part and raise sponsorship money," said Mr Hall, aged 54, who lives at the Wyche.

He has been taking medication for his heart condition since it was diagnosed in 2008.

“We all know someone who has suffered heart problems or is taking statins for high cholesterol. The BHF has been instrumental in so many ways helping to fight heart disease and it is all funded by charity donations. This is a chance to take part and have some fun," he said.

Entrants can register on the day, with the check-in desk at New Road opening at 9.30am and the walk itself starting at 10.30am.

The route is on flat gravelled paths which are suitable for all ages and abilities. Adult entry will cost £8. Children can enter free but must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
