A MINOR road near Worcester has been closed after a hole mysteriously appeared in the carriageway.
The cause of the 2ft deep hole is currently unknown – but Worcestershire County Council highways teams will carry out a full inspection at the site in Fernhill Heath tomorrow (Thursday, April 23).
The unclassified road, known as Jacobs Ladder, is now closed to all traffic after the local authority received a report of the hole at 3pm today (Wednesday, April 22).
Barriers, signs and tape have been put in place around the hazard, which is about 2ft wide and full of water.
A small stream flows near to the hole, which could possibly be a cause of erosion linked to the hole's appearance.
The road will remain closed overnight.
