A team of cyclists are ready to take on a mammoth bike ride to Paris in aid of charity.

Nick Wild, Martin Beale and Ade Platt, who have dubbed themselves The Three Rushwickteers, are attempting to cycle 350 miles over four days from their home town of Rushwick to the French capital, in support of St Richard's Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

The trio will travel to Portsmouth, where a ferry will take them across to Le Havre. From there they will commence the second phase of the challenge, which started with an ankle injury.

Mr Platt said: "It all started after I had an ankle injury which stopped me running.

"I started cycling with Martin, initially on an old mountain bike, then on a second-hand road bike and going a longer distance each time.

"We wanted to do something special to raise money for charity, and decided that cycling from Worcestershire to Paris would be just the challenge we were looking for.

"We persuaded Nick to join us, and his commitment has kept us going.

"We have trained really hard and are ready for this challenge, and want to raise as much as possible.”

They will be helped out by Mr Wild's daughter, Nadine, and her friend Amy Balchin, who will be driving the support vehicle and bringing them home.

The Three Rushwickteers aim to raise £3,000 for the causes.
