ONLY bricks and rubble remain after the bulldozers moved on to the site of the former print works on London Road to make way for a new supermarket.
Fencing surrounds the site of the former Ebenezer Baylis building, the remains of which have now been cleared away after it was knocked down at the end of March.
The clearance of the site means work can begin on the building of the new £20million Waitrose store, which is expected to open next summer and create 240 new jobs.
Although some have expressed concerns around the impact on traffic on London Road – which is one of the main routes in and out of Worcester – Waitrose has said it looked closely at the impact on the road before submitting its application.
The print works closed in 2008 after Goodman Bayliss – which was formed by the merger of Ebenezer Baylis and Son of Worcester and John Goodman and Sons of Birmingham – went under, with the loss of about 115 jobs.
