A WORCESTERSHIRE animal charity is appealing for someone who is good with numbers to join its ranks.

The RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch's current treasurer is retiring at its annual meeting next month, after 26 years of voluntary service.

Now the branch needs someone with a financial background to take on this important role.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, said: "This is an exciting and rewarding time to get involved with us as building of our animal centre at The Holdings, near Worcester, starts next month.

"The branch also continues its day-to-day rehoming and animal welfare work within Worcester, Malvern, Upton, Pershore, Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Redditch and surrounding areas.

"The committee consists of volunteers who all work as a team for the benefit of unwanted, abused and neglected animals. We take responsibility for overseeing the effective running of the charity, meaning we are responsible for ensuring it is financially sound, well run and delivers the charitable outcome and goals that have been set."

The treasurer's role in brief includes keeping financial records for the branch sufficient for monthly review, VAT and annual audit; manage income and expenditure; liaise with banks regarding account/accounts conduct, mandates and charges; dealing with Charity Commission matters and the annual return and monitor investments and other securities.

The current treasurer will be on hand to ensure a smooth transition.

Please ring Pamela Booker, branch secretary, on 01905 841354 for more information on the role.

Meanwhile the branch is urgently seeking a rural home for two feral cats, Rosemary and Pansy. They are two-year-old sibling sisters, both blue torties who are currently in the cattery, but are not happy there.

They need a home away from busy roads, with an outbuilding where they can be secure, until they get used to their new surroundings.

Please ring Pamela on the above number if you can help.
