A GRANDMOTHER from Droitwich has admitted stealing from two shops in the town as well as another in Worcester in an effort to feed her drug habit.

Samantha McKnight, of Bays Meadow, appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 1, after previously admitting stealing three razor blades worth £90 from Boots in Saint Andrew’s Street on Sunday, November 16, last year.

The 47-year-old, who has three grandchildren aged two, three and four, had also admitted stealing cans of Lynx deodorant wort h £27.50 from Wilkinson in Saint Andrew’s Square on Saturday, February 14 and four Yankee candles from Clinton Cards in Worcester High Street on Friday, February 27.

The court also heard McKnight had breached a community order imposed on Monday, May 12, last year by failing to attend a supervision appointment on Thursda y, January 22.

McKnight was handed a four month prison sentence for breaching the community order, to run concurrently with three consecutive four month prison sentences for the thefts, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to attend 30 days of drugs rehabilitation.

She was also ordered to pay £90 compensation for the razors and £35.20 for the deodorant as well as £150 court costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
