ITEMS including a signed Worcester Warriors shirt and tickets to the Swan Theatre will be up for grabs at a charity auction at Worcester’s first-ever canal festival next month.

Funds raised at the auction, which will be held on Saturday, June 13 on the second day of the three-day event celebrating the 200th anniversary of the man-made waterway, will go towards a range of charities including Maggs Day Centre, St Richard’s Hospice and St Paul’s Hostel.

Items included in the auction, which will be led by Charles Robinson of Griffiths and Charles, who recently announced his retirement, will include a signed team shirt and four tickets to Worcester Warriors, two tickets to An Evening of Dirty Dancing at the Swan Theatre, a tour of the Morgan Motor Company in Malvern, a Sunday lunch and bottle of wine from The Chestnut pub in Lansdowne Road and a grooming treatment from House of Dogs in New Street.

Mike Doyle, who is co-ordinating sponsorship, advertising and the donations for the auction, said: “We are really pleased with the level of support and the generosity of the business community so far but would naturally welcome further contributions to ensure that this event is the spectacular success it deserves to be for Worcester, the local Community and the Charity organisations.”

Other items include a charm bracelet from Pandora in the High Street, a 30 minute back massage from Stripes Fashion and Beauty in The Foregate, 100 sq ft storage free for three months from Storage King in Tolladine Road as well as vouchers from Bindles bar in Sidbury, Prophecy clothes store in the Corn Market and the Ginger Pig cafe in Copenhagen Street.
