HUGE crowds flooded into Pershore for this year's carnival to enjoy a spectacular Bank Holiday Monday.

Nearly 15,000 visitors turned out yesterday for one of the town's showpiece events of the year.

A procession consisting of 32 floats walked from Pershore Football Club to Abbey Park, accompanied by the West Midlands Fire Service Marching Band.

The Carnival Court which led the procession was made up of James Andrews as the king, Jasmine Hoskins as the queen, Connor McNickle as the prince and Milly Thomas as the princess.

The thousands of revellers had the pick of scores of stores dotted around Abbey Park, and a number of fun shows and rides.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin said it was probably the best edition she had attended.

She said: "It seems to be bigger and better than ever, this must be a record day.

"It's going from strength to strength."

Pershore Carnival chairman Colin Shepherd said: "It's been a fantastic experience.

"The amount of people we've been able to bring to Pershore is up near 15,000 – the general public's response has been amazing.

"We've put it on but without their support it wouldn't be the same."
