CCTV images have been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with an assault on train staff at Worcester's Shrub Hill station.

Officers from British Transport Police today released images of a man they wish to speak to after two members of train staff were assaulted on a train at the station on March 30.

The offence happened on the 1.59pm Moreton-in-Marsh to Great Malvern service, when two members of ticket staff challenged a group of men about the validity of their tickets.

PC Ben Smith, investigating, said: “When the staff members questioned the men, one of the group became aggressive and pushed one of the staff in the chest.

“The train arrived at Worcester Shrub Hill shortly after, and the group got off. At this point the same man threw a plastic drinks bottle at another staff member, hitting him on the head.”

PC Smith added: “Fortunately, the member of staff who was hit on the head did not receive any injuries. Regardless, we will not tolerate any assaults or abuse of staff who are simply carrying out their jobs.

“We will always do everything in our power to identify those responsible for such attacks and deal with them accordingly.”
