STAFF and students from The Chantry School travelled to Poland as part of an environmental project.

The group visited Slupsk in the Eastern European nation through the school's work with the ELITE scheme.

This encourages teenagers to take an active part in protecting the environment and saving their natural heritage by promoting eco-friendly living.

The British Council chose five schools out of all those who applied – one each from Poland, Italy, Spain, Turkey and England – to take part in the project.

During the visit, students from each country made a presentation of the work they are doing about environmental projects in their own countries.

This year the focus was on eco-art and also the designing of an eco-city.

They had the opportunity to visit a forest which surrounded the school and planted lime trees, putting tags on them with their names.

They also visited a hydroelectric power station, walked through sand dunes and forest to the Baltic Sea and enjoyed a guided tour of Gdansk.
