PUBS and sports clubs in Worcester are being warned to make sure they are correctly licensed if they plan on screening the FA Cup final.

TV Licensing has issued the reminder as excitement builds for Saturday's (May 30) showdown between Aston Villa and Arsenal.

Any establishments caught showing the much-anticipated match risk picking up a 'red card' - possible prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000 plus costs.

Mark Whitehouse, TV Licensing spokesman for Worcestershire, said: “We’re always keen to make sure that businesses have all the information they need to stay on the right side of the law and avoid risking a fine.

"If any landlords or managers would like more information about the licensing requirements, or ways to spread the cost, they can call us or visit our website.”

A TV in the workplace policy is also available online to help bosses explain TV Licensing rules to their staff.

If there is living accommodation on the premises where a TV is also in use, this must be covered by a separate licence.
