MAUREEN Matthews welcomed members to the meeting on March 21, which was the first day of spring. She had been to the council meeting at Malvern the day before and had really enjoyed the day.

Many events were planned for 2007-08 including a dinner at the Three Counties, a pantomime, tea party, several days out and several holidays, details of all these events would be given at a later date.

The main speaker was one of the original calendar girls, Tricia Stewart.

Names were taken for the dinner at the March Hare in April, and Christine announced that the social skittles evening would be on Monday, May 21. Husbands and friends to be invited.

Members were invited to put their names forward for the bursary draw which will take place at our birthday meeting in April.

Each month we have a competition with points for the winner and runner up. This year's winner was Annette Kendall who was given a prize and a rosette to wear for the evening.

The speaker this month was one of our own members, Margaret Oakley, who showed us slides of her holidays in Iceland, Switzerland and South Africa.

She was thanked by Barbara Rowberry. The competition for a holiday souvenir was won by Annette, with Jean runner up.

We have played three skittles matches so far and won one, the rest of the games are to be played at the end of April.

Members were given some free samples of Dave cream which had come by post that morning, and Christine had received several items from Yorkshire tea.

After tea and biscuits the raffle was drawn with Annette's ticket out first. We meet every third Wednesday at St Mark's Church hall, visitors will be made most welcome.
