A TOUCH of India is coming to a Worcestershire village this month in the form of a Hindu ladies dance troupe from Leicester.

The Maher Girls Raas Group will be performing traditional Gujarati folk dances and children's plays in the village hall in Abbots Morton near Inkberrow.

A three-course buffet table of authentic Indian food will also be cooked and presented by the group, who raise money for the Sahkar Charity to provide assisted living for the elderly.

Antony Bunce, of the Abbots Morton village hall committee, said: "This is something completely different for Abbots Morton and we're delighted to be staging a show that profiles a minority ethnic culture.

“There'll be tuition on how to put on a sari and a sari–wearing competition, as well as a Bollywood DJ.

“It should be a thrilling and colourful night for anyone to come and enjoy."

All proceeds from the event on Saturday, June 13, will be shared between the Sahkar charity and the Abbots Morton village hall funds.

Tickets, which cost £15 for adults and £5 for children aged under-12, are available from Mr Bunce on 07801 235891 or via e-mail on ab2ab@live.com
