WORCESTER children can fill up on healthy treats this summer thanks to a donation from a local business.

Emma Line, a senior finance manager for housing and care provider Sanctuary Group, donated £500 to Worcester Community Trust's KidzPlay, after winning the cash prize at a recent housing conference.

The donation was match funded by Ms Line's employers at Sanctuary.

KidzPlay supports children and their families in Worcester during school holidays by providing free educational activity sessions for young people.

The funding will be used to provide fresh and healthy lunches for children attending KidzPlay during the school holidays.

Miss Line said: “KidzPlay is a fantastic scheme in Worcester and when I visited I could see how much the children loved being there. It is great to know this money will be used by the charity to continue to support children in the local area.”

Sally Wyatt, play development manager at KidzPlay, said: “We are really grateful to Emma for thinking of us and helping us to make sure that the children get a healthy lunch when they’re here. Our experience is that they often come to our play days without anything to eat and that has an effect on their behaviour as well as their health, so this donation will really help us support them further.”
